The United States and Japan remain the most trusted countries by most Filipinos.

This is the result of the latest survey released by Pulse Asia based on a December 2016 nationwide survey on public trust in selected countries and international organizations.

US got the highest trust rating with 76%, followed by Japan with 70%, and Great Britain with 39%.

Meanwhile, few Filipinos trust Russia and China.

The survey shows that 61% of the respondents distrust China, while 58% distrust Russia.

The survey was conducted among 1,200 Filipinos from December 6 to 11 of 2016 through face to face interviews.

Some of the important events before the survey was conducted were the election of Donald Trump as the 45th US president, and the congratulatory call of President Duterte to Trump, and his pronouncement to no longer lash out at the US since it was Trump who won.

Coinciding with the survey was the order of President Duterte to arrest gaming tycoon, Jack Lam for bribery and economic sabotage following the raid of his illegal gaming operations at Clark, Pampanga.
